Ridley Scott’s biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte raised more questions than it answered about Napoleon’s life, his success, his failings, and his place in history. In a warts and all examination of Napoleon’s life and legacy, Dr Zack White, historian and host of The Napoleonic Wars podcast, will discuss how we balance a man who was equal parts hero and villain – military genius, misogynist, reformer, racist, visionary, and dictator. Zack questions Napoleon’s relevance in the 21st century, how we feel about the complex kaleidoscope of positive and negative impacts that the Emperor had, and how we process these seemingly conflicting aspects of his character.
