Hanna Shelest is a brilliant academic from Ukraine and joins David Knowles, Dominic Nicholls and Francis Dearnley for this first of our two live Telegraph Podcasts. Ukraine has a long and very rich history but its story in the last hundred years is one of oppression, famine, war and subjugation until finally it emerged as an independent nation once more, and one that had embraced democracy. In this event, the panel discuss this history and how Putin has distorted reality into myth, and explain why its future as a free, democratic and liberal country is vital not only for Ukraine itself but for that of Europe as a whole.
