48. THE NEED FOR SPEED: DRIVING LE MANS AND F1
Greg Mills, Emanuele Pirro, Jan Lammers
Thursday 27th June 11:00 (60 Min)
IPGL Stage
It takes a special kind of skill, untold levels of concentration, iron determination and no small amount of personal courage to reach the very summit of motor sport. Both Jan Lammers and Emanuele Pirro have raced not only in Formula 1, but also won the legendary Le Mans 24-Hour endurance event along with blue riband races at Sebring and Daytona. Greg Mills has raced with both, and has written eight books on motorsport. In this very special event, they discuss their astonishing careers, their need for speed, the adrenalin rush of racing at the pinnacle of the sport, what it is like to drive some of the fastest cars on the planet and the big recent changes in the sport as it is increasingly driven by technology and has become a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
