34. READING THE POLITICAL RUNES: ELECTIONS 2024
Roger Parry, James Kanagasooriam
Wednesday 26th June 15:45 (60 Min)
Hiscox Tent
2024 is the biggest year in history for elections. Over 4 billion people can cast a ballot in more than 60 national elections. And with elections come opinion polls. As the traditional concepts of left and right lose meaning and electorates fracture along new lines, we look to opinion polls to try and predict what our future holds. But after many false predictions, can we really trust them? Roger Parry, former Chairman of YouGov, and James Kanagasooriam of Focal Data, won’t reveal whether Donald Trump will win, but they will look at the history of opinion polls, why they matter, what goes wrong, and why they are now more accurate than ever.
