27. THE AERIAL ATLAS OF ANCIENT WESSEX
David R Abram
Wednesday 26th June 12:15 (60 Min)
Hiscox Tent
Writer-photographer David R Abram has spent over a decade exploring prehistoric monuments around the British Isles from the air, capturing the sites in rare sunrise light. The results are by turns hauntingly beautiful and revelatory, showing how tombs, stone circles and burial mounds created thousands of years ago were, in effect, forms of ritual art that used landscape as both their principal material and subject. David showcases the archaeological sites of Cranborne Chase and the wider Wessex region, where traces of human presence have created an extraordinary palimpsest dating back 6,000 years or more. If you've heard David speak before you’ll know his talks yield as much entertainment as they do archaeological insight. We’re greatly looking forward to seeing the wonders from our own area that he will unveil.
