20. OUR ISLAND STORIES: COUNTRY WALKS THROUGH COLONIAL BRITAIN
Alex Langlands, Corinne Fowler
Tuesday 25th June 17:45 (60 Min)
IPGL Stage
There is a deep connection to our rural places, the moors and lochs, valleys and mountains, cottages and country houses. Yet the British countryside, so integral to our national identity, is rarely seen as having anything to do with British colonialism. Through ten country walks historian Corinne Fowler brings rural life and colonial rule together combining local and global history, connecting the Cotswolds to Calcutta, Dolgellau to Virginia, and Grasmere to Canton. In conversation with archaeologist, historian, writer and TV presenter Alex Langlands.
