Tom Baldwin, author of Keir Starmer: The Biography and director of communications for the Labour Party, and Marc Stears, an internationally regarded political strategist and former chief speechwriter to the UK Labour Party, will be running the rule over a century of Labour government. In January of 1924, the cabinet of the first Labour government consisted of twenty white, middle-aged men, as it had in every government of every stripe for generations. But the election also represented a radical departure from government by the ruling class. Most members of the administration had left school by the age of fifteen. Five of them had started work by the time they were twelve years old. Three were working down the mines before they entered their teens. What will a new Labour government be made up of if they come to power in the next general election? Can we still trace their DNA back a century?
